2007-08 CD Linares Special Shirt - L

Special shirt worn by Andalusian club CD Linares in one of their final seasons before being dissolved in 2009. The club from Linares, near Jaén, languished in the lowest regional divisions of Spanish football before rising to the top of the Spanish 3rd division in the mid-2000’s. Potential promotion to the promised land of Spanish pro football was on the horizon. When Linares took to the field at the end of the 2007-08 season in this shirt to contest the 3rd division promotion playoffs, they were within touching distance of a lifeline that would rescue them from their rising debts. Alas, it wasn’t to be; with those debts forced the club to liquidate and reform in 2009. Leaving only one question; why the names? Honestly, I don’t know.
