Army Painter Warpaints Fanatic Metallic: Rough Iron 18ml

Rough Iron is the dark, dirty gunmetal you reach for when armour should look forged rather than polished. Its cool, low-sheen finish is ideal for battered plate, heavy weapons and machinery that's seen real war — and it makes the perfect base for brighter silvers layered on top.

Best for

• Base-coating armour before brighter metals
• Battle-worn weapons and machinery
• Brush or airbrush application

Undercoat with Rough Iron, drybrush a lighter steel over the top and finish with a dark wash for grimy, believable metal.

The gritty foundation every metallic scheme wants. Pair it with a shining silver for highlights and a dark shade for the recesses.
