Cyperus longus (Sweet Galingale)

Cyperus longus, commonly known as sweet galingale, is a robust, clump-forming perennial with tall, triangular green stems and narrow, grass-like leaves forming dense tussocks along pond edges and wet soils. It produces inconspicuous greenish-brown flower spikes in summer, rising slightly above the foliage to provide subtle texture rather than showy blooms.

This species is valued for wetland biodiversity, offering cover for small wildlife and helping to stabilise damp soils and pond margins. Its upright, vigorous habit makes it ideal for naturalistic pond edges, wetland planting schemes, and waterside gardens.
