Eriophorum angustifolium (Cotton grass)

Eriophorum angustifolium, commonly known as common cottongrass, is a clump-forming perennial with slender, grass-like green leaves forming dense tussocks in wet soils and boggy areas. In late spring to summer, it produces distinctive white, fluffy seed heads above the foliage, creating a soft and airy visual effect rather than showy flowers.

This species is valuable for wetland biodiversity, providing cover for small wildlife and contributing to the naturalistic appearance of pond margins and bog gardens. Its upright, tufted habit and tolerance of waterlogged or consistently wet conditions make it ideal for pond edges, wet meadows, and naturalistic water features.
