"Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Johannes Vermeer (1665) 

This very famous painting depicts a European girl wearing "exotic dress", an "oriental turban", and what appears to be a very large pearl as an earring. Johannes Vermeer was a Dutch Baroque Period painter who specialised in domestic interior scenes of middle-class life. The original oil on canvas painting can be seen in Mauritshuis art museum, The Hague, Netherlands.
