The Mazda MX-5 NB is a marvel in the world of roadsters. Released in 1998, it marked the midpoint in the second-generation MX-5’s lifespan, embodying a perfect balance between charm and performance. The 2001 FL was not just a facelift; Mazda meticulously refined the NB's dynamics, bringing a fresh, sporty edge while still keeping that unrelenting fun factor alive. The distinctive, wide-eyed fixed headlights, unlike the pop-ups of the original NA, gave it a slightly more serious, aggressive look that matched its newfound purpose. Powered by the 1.8 litre BP-Z3 engine with a peak output of 143 bhp, it wasn’t a brute force machine, but it didn’t need to be, as it was more focused on agility and balance. The FL included bigger brakes, stiffer chassis, and a 6-speed gearbox in the top-tier models, which was a treat for enthusiasts who desired more precision in every gear change.

In addition to car photography, Thomas also is working as a graphic designer and food & lifestyle photographer in the coffee industry. Cars are a fixed element in his life. Shooting for a variety of clients, organising Cars & Coffee events and providing FDL Workshops. “I love to pass on my photography knowledge and experience to other photographers, helping them expand their skills and provide new inspiration.
