What Are Organic Millet Flakes?

Similar to Quinoa and Buckwheat, Millet isn't actually a grain but rather a seed, being most accurately described as a Pseudo-Grain. This means Millet Grain, like Quinoa and Buckwheat, is not an allergen! Yay!

Less similarly this ancient grain was cultivated in East Asia as far back as 10,000 years ago! Surprisingly, cultivation of millet in prehistoric times was more prevalent than even rice, particularly in what is now China and the Korean peninsula. Despite the 5000 year difference in adapting this whole grain as a staple food, millet porridge is considered a traditional food in Russia as well as China to this day!

Why Should I Get Organic Millet Flakes?

Millet Flakes are a great alternative to porridge, especially for those who wish to keep their gluten intake to a minimum. Similarly to porridge you can quite happily splash some water or some of your favourite milk over the millet flakes and eat as is, or again just like porridge you can gently warm it up and eat hot, which is truly a delicious way to enjoy this product.

Millet is naturally slightly sweet so its especially appropriate if you would like to reduce your sugar intake too. Millet is also an exceptionally healthy alternative to wheat given it's enriched with some very important nutrients, including copper, manganese, phosphorus, and magnesium.
