Ranunculus Acris (batchelor buttons)

Ranunculus acris, commonly known as meadow buttercup, is a tall, clump-forming perennial with upright stems and deeply divided green leaves that add texture to meadows and wet grasslands. In late spring to summer it produces bright yellow, cup-shaped flowers that create a vivid splash of colour across damp fields and pond margins.

This species thrives in moist, well-drained to wet soils and provides ecological value by supporting pollinators such as bees and hoverflies. Its vigorous growth and tolerance of damp conditions make it ideal for wildflower meadows, pond edges, and naturalistic or wildlife-focused plantings.
