Tonga Basket Collection - No 34

A curated set of handwoven Tonga baskets

Each set in our Tonga Basket Collection is handwoven by Tonga (Bathonga) artisans in Zimbabwe and Southern Zambia. Worked from Ilala palm leaf — coiled from a woven square into an almost perfect circle — the baskets are coloured with natural tree-bark dyes and carry the fine ‘snake’s belly’ edging the weavers are known for. Traditionally used to winnow grain, today they make beautiful wall art, especially grouped together.

Sustainably made and entirely unique, every basket differs a little in size and shade — exactly what you’d expect from handmade work. Group them for a striking gallery wall, or use each as a standalone accent.
